Rooftop Replacement in Galveston

Today’s air conditioning condenser installation in Galveston, TX, required careful planning and heavy equipment. The old condenser sat three stories up, so our team used a crane to remove the existing unit and to set the new Ameristar condenser on the roof. Moving large equipment to that height takes a small amount of coordination

Before replacing the unit, we completed a Heat Load Calculation to verify the correct size for the home. The old system was a 2.0 ton unit and our load calculation showed the home needed more capacity. We installed a 2.5 ton Ameristar condenser to correct the undersized system, which amounted to an increase of one half ton compared to the previous equipment.

The homeowner also asked for the ability to run cooling when outdoor temperatures drop below 50 degrees. To meet that request, we installed a crankcase heater and a low ambient kit. These additions prevent compressor issues and allow the system to operate and provide cooling in cooler outdoor conditions, giving the customer more flexibility with their comfort settings.

All mounting and connections were completed on the roof after the new condenser was set. We tied in electrical and refrigerant lines according to manufacturer specifications and local code. After charging and securing the system, we started the unit and checked airflow and temperature at the registers to confirm proper operation.

Once the system was running, the homeowner immediately noticed better airflow and a marked improvement in cooling. The customer was amazed at how quickly the house began to feel cooler, and it was a clear, noticeable difference from the previous equipment.
